The prize is awarded every two years by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and is organised by the Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (BAuA). The award ceremony took place on October 25, 2016 at an event to mark the signing of a joint declaration of the "Aktionsprogramms Staub" at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) in Berlin.
The prevention of dust formation during work in the construction industry was the subject of the 11th Deutschen Gefahrstoffschutzpreis, and innovative solutions for protection against dust were sought and awarded. In the category "low-dust techniques", DUSS won the prize awarded by Ministerial Director Maria Britta Loskamp for its extraction systems for dust protection during drilling, chiselling and diamond core drilling work.
In addition to the DUSS ASG suction cups and the extraction system for dry diamond drilling, the MASH and MASP dust extraction systems for chiselling and demolition work were particularly highlighted when the prize was awarded to DUSS. In conjunction with a connected industrial vacuum cleaner, these systems extract the dust directly at the point of origin. Thanks to the practical length adjustment, the distance from the extraction opening to the working surface can be optimally adjusted. An extremely high degree of efficiency is thus ensured even when chisels of different lengths are used. The extraction unit is easy to install and offers perfect handling. The dust extraction can be used for all DUSS breakers and demolition hammers as well as combi hammers from the 4 kg class upwards and have been classified as a low-dust system by BG Bau since 2015.
